A Prayer At Dawn
T |
hank You Lord, for this new
day that reflects so much of the splendor and glory of Your creation. Would you
help us (in the words of the Psalmist), to believe and feel that: “This is
the day the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it” (Psalms 118:24).
Father,
when day by day we get to thinking that there cannot be any more beauty in a
day, then Your day of worship (Sunday, the first day of the week) dawns, and we
see even more beauty! We see the day that You chose for Your Son to rise from
the dead, (Mark 16:9), the day
when the church of Your Son began and was revealed through the power of the
Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-4). We see
the day that you commanded (by example) for Your children to remember the death
of Your Son Jesus the Christ (Acts 20:7), by partaking of the Lord’s Supper (1 Corinthians 11:20,23-26), and to “lay something aside, storing up as he
may prosper, (1 Corinthians 16:2).
Holy
Father! As long as we live, may we always see the magnificence of each day that
you give, but especially on the Lord’s Day with its eternal beauty?
In Jesus’ name we offer this prayer.
Amen. —BBBristow
O, there is such beauty in the
dawning of a day
The
sky aglow with azure, lighted with sunrays.
We too can have this beauty, with Jesus the Way
He
removes all dark clouds—giving us a new day. (bbb)
