not depart, you give them to eat.”

grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He
blessed, and broke, and gave the loaves to His disciples, and the disciples to
the multitude. And they all ate, and were filled, and they took up twelve

Galilean Ministry of
Jesus Begins
Parallel: Mark 1:14,15;
Luke 4:14,15
Matt. 4:12 Now when
Jesus had heard that John was cast
into 1prison, He
departed to Galilee;
1Mark 6:17 For Herod himself had
sent and laid hold on John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias,
his brother Philip's wife; for he had married her.
Matt. 4:13 And leaving Nazareth, 1He came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in
the borders of Zebulun and Naphtali:
1John 4:47 When he heard that Jesus had come
out of Judea to Galilee, he went to Him, and besought Him to come down, and

Matt. 4:14 That
it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying,
Matt. 4:15 The land of 1Zebulun, and the land of Naphtali, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;
1Isaiah 9:1,2 Nevertheless the dimness will not
be upon her who is distressed, as when at the first He lightly afflicted the
land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward more grievously afflict
her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the Gentiles. The
people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; they who dwell in the
land of the shadow of death, upon them has the light shined.
Matt. 4:16 The
people who sat in darkness saw great
1light; and to those who sat in
the region and shadow of 2death light is sprung up.
1John 8:12 Then spoke Jesus again to them,
saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me will not walk in
darkness, but will have the light of life.”

light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light,
because their deeds were evil.
1John 1:4 In Him was life; and the life was
the light of men.
2Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but

1Matthew 21:29 He answered and said, “I will not:,”
but afterward he repented, and went.
1Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent,
and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission
of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
1Acts 3:19 Repent therefore, and be converted,
that your sins may be blotted out, in order that the times of refreshing may
come from the presence of the Lord,
2Matthew 16:18,19 And I say also to you, that you are
Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will
not prevail against it. And I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of
heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven: and whatever
you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
2Mark 9:1 And He said to them, “Verily I say
to you, that there are some who stand here, who will not taste of death, until
they see the kingdom of God come with power.”
Matt. 4:18 And Jesus, walking by the Sea of
Galilee, saw 1two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his
brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishermen.
1John 1:40-42 One of the two who heard John
speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. He first found his
own brother Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah,” which is,
interpreted, the Christ. And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld
him, He said, “You are Simon the son of Jona. You will be called Cephas, which
is by interpretation, A stone.”
1John 1:35 Again the next day John stood with
two of his disciples.

the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is
baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
Matt. 4:20 And they
immediately 1left
their nets, and followed Him.
1Mark 8:34 And when He had called the people
to Him with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after
Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.”
Matt. 4:21 And
going on from there,
He saw two other brothers, James the son of 1Zebedee, and John his brother, in a boat with
Zebedee their father,
mending their nets; and He called them.

1Mark 10:29,30 And Jesus answered and said,
“Verily I say to you, there is no man who has left house, or brothers, or
sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for My sake, and
the gospel's, who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time—houses, and brothers,
and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions—and in the
world to come eternal life.”
Matt. 4:23 And
Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the 1kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all
manner of disease
among the people.
1Matthew 16:18,19 And I say also to you, that you are
Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades will
not prevail against it. And I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of
heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven: and whatever
you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
Matt. 4:24 And His
fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought to Him all 1sick people who were taken with various diseases and torments, and those who were possessed
with demons, and
those who were lunatic, and those who had the palsy; and He healed them.
1Matthew 17:15 “Lord, have mercy on my son,
for he is lunatic, and suffers greatly. For he often falls into the fire, and
often into the water.”
1Matthew 9:2 And, behold, they brought to Him a
man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed, and Jesus seeing their faith said to the
sick of the palsy, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins be forgiven you.”
Matt. 4:25 And there followed Him great multitudes
of people from 1Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from
Jerusalem, and
from Judea, and
from beyond Jordan.
1Mark 3:7 But Jesus withdrew Himself with His
disciples to the sea and a great multitude from Galilee followed Him, and from
Judea,

when He was seated,
His disciples came
to Him,
Matt. 5:2 and He opened His mouth, and 1taught them, saying:

God.”

acceptably with reverence and godly fear.

there is any virtue, and if there is any praise, think on these things.
2Hebrews 12:14 Follow peace and holiness with all
men, without which no one will see the Lord:
Matt. 5:9 Blessed
are the peacemakers,
for they shall
be called the 1children of God.
1Romans 8:16,17 The Spirit Himself bears witness
with our spirit, that we are the children of God, and if children, then

that we may also be glorified together.
Matt. 5:10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the 1kingdom of heaven.
1Colossians 1:13 Who has delivered us from the power
of darkness, and has translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son,

acceptably with reverence and godly fear:
Matt. 5:11 Blessed are you, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and
shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for My sake.
Matt. 5:12 1Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your 2reward in heaven, for so 3persecuted they the 4prophets who were before you.

Believers As Salt
Parallel: Mark 9:45,50;
Luke 14:34,35
Matt. 5:13 You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its savour, wherewith
shall it be salted. It is no longer good for anything, but
to be cast out, and
to be trodden
under foot of men.
Believers As Light
Parallel: Mark 4:21-25; Luke 8:16-18; 11:33
Matt. 5:14 You
are the 1light of the
world. A city that is set on a hill cannot
be 2hidden.

mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Christ Came to Fulfills
the Law
Parallel: Luke 16:14-18
Matt. 5:17 Think not that I have come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I have not come to destroy, but to 1fulfill.
1Romans 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law
for righteousness to everyone who believes.
Matt. 5:18 For verily I say to you, until heaven and earth pass, away, one jot or one tittle will in no wise pass from the law, until all be 1fulfilled.
1Galatians 3:24,25 Therefore the law was our
schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But
after that faith has come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
Matt. 5:19 Whoever therefore will 1break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall
be called the least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever shall 2do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the 3kingdom of heaven.
1Matthew 23:23 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees,
hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted

to have done, without leaving the other undone.

not prevail against it. And I will give to you the keys of the kingdom of
heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven: and whatever
you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

of the scribes and
Pharisees, you
will in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

fool,” will be in danger of 2hell fire.
1Mark 3:5 And when He had looked round on
them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, He said to the

into hell, into the fire that shall never be quenched—

if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has 1something against you,
1Mark 11:25,26 And whenever you stand praying,
forgive, if you have anything against anyone, that your Father also who is in
heaven may forgive you your trespasses, but if you do not forgive, neither will
your Father who is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
Matt. 5:24 leave there your gift before the altar, and go your way; first be
reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
Getting Along With
Adversary
Parallel: Luke 12:57-59
Matt. 5:25 1Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are in the way with
him; lest at any time the adversary delivers you to the judge, and the judge delivers you to
the officer, and you are cast into prison.
1Luke 12:58 When you go with your adversary to
appear before the magistrate, as you are on the way, give diligence that you
may settle with him; lest he drag you before the judge, and the judge deliver you
to the officer, and the officer cast you into prison.

means come out of there, till you have paid the uttermost farthing.

2Exodus 20:14 You shall not commit adultery.
Matt. 5:29 And if your right eye offend you, pluck
it out, and cast
it from you; for it is profitable for you that one of your members should
perish, and not that
your whole body should
be 1cast into
hell.
1Mark 9:43 And if your hand offend you, cut it
off; it is better for you to enter life maimed, than having two hands to go to
hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched—

it from you: for it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, and not

vipers, how can you escape the condemnation of hell?
Laws For Marriage
Parallel: Mark 10:1-12; Luke 16:18
Matt. 5:31 It has been said, ‘Whoever shall put away his
wife, let him give her a writing of 1divorcement.’
1Deuteronomy 24:1 When a man has taken a wife and
married her, and it come to pass that she finds no favor in his eyes because he
has found some uncleanness in her, and he writes her a bill of divorcement, and
puts it in her hand, and send her out of his house, and when she is departed
out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife, and if the latter
husband hates her and writes her a bill of divorcement, and puts it in her
hand, and sends her out of his house, or if the latter husband dies, who took
her to be his wife, then her former husband who sent her away, may not take her
again to be his wife after that she has been defiled; for that is an
abomination before the LORD, and you shall not cause the land to sin, which the
LORD your God gives you for an inheritance.
1Matthew 19:8 He said to them, “Moses, because of
the hardness of your hearts permitted you to put away your wives, but from the
beginning it was not so.
Matt. 5:32 But I say to you, that whoever shall 1put away his wife, except for the
cause of fornication, causes her to commit adultery, and whoever will marry her who
is divorced commits adultery.
1Romans 7:1-3 Do you not know, brethren, (for I
speak to those who know the law,) how that the law has dominion over a man as
long as he lives? For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her
husband as long as he lives, but if the husband is dead, she is loosed from the
law of her husband. So then if, while her husband lives, she is married to
another man, she will be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is
free from that law, so that she is no adulteress, though she marries another
man.
1Matthew 19:3-9 The Pharisees also came to Him,
tempting Him, and saying to Him, “Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife
for every cause?” And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read, that He
who made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, for this
cause a man shall leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and
the two shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more two, but one flesh. What
therefore God has joined together, let not man put asunder.” They say to Him,
“Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her
away?” He said to them, “Moses,
because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to put away your wives,
but from the beginning it was not so. And I say to you, whoever will put away
his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, commits
adultery, and whoever marries her who is put away commits adultery.”
11 Corinthians 7:10-16 And to the married I command,
yet not I, but the Lord: Let not the wife depart from her husband. But even if
she does depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband, and
let not the husband put away his wife. But to the rest I say, not the Lord: If
any brother has a wife who does not believe, and she is pleased to dwell with
him, let him not put her away. And the woman who has a husband who does not
believe, and if he is pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave him. For the

you know, O wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, O
husband, whether you will save your wife?
